March 29, 2023 – MacGillivray Freeman Films is pleased to announce it has obtained the theatrical distribution rights for IMAX and giant screen theatres for the stunning new film Lasting Impressions, an immersive 3D art and music experience from producers Princeton Entertainment Group in association with Northern Gateway Films. The film will be available starting this Summer 2023 in both 2D and 3D formats.
Lasting Impressions invites audiences to rediscover the emotional power of art and witness the mesmerizing transformation of more than 100 French Impressionist masterworks, brought to moving life by cutting-edge 3D Motion Sculpting technology. The effect is spellbinding as these classic paintings come alive in stunning stereoscopy, inviting audiences to move into and through the canvas, thus fully inhabiting the worlds crafted by the Impressionist masters. Thanks to Holographic 3D, spectators can sit with Renoir’s luncheon guests, dance with Degas’ ballerinas, soar into Van Gogh’s Starry Night and move among the famous characters on Seurat’s Isle of La Grande Jatte.
“Lasting Impressions will give moviegoers a truly unique and deeply moving cinematic experience as they step into these living masterpieces from some of the world’s greatest artists on the world’s largest screens,” said Patty Collins, Director of Global Sales for MacGillivray Freeman Films. “This film is unlike anything else in the giant screen marketplace and offers theatres a way to connect with a new audience and engage with their local arts community.”
“We are delighted to partner with MacGillivray Freeman Films to bring this unique and beautiful film to global audiences,” said Ed Kasses of Princeton Entertainment Group. “Millions of people have enjoyed these works of art in museums across the world, but this is the first time they can be experienced all together at one time, in a way that brings them to life like never before. Every brush stroke comes alive on the screen, enhancing these masterworks in a unique way.”
Available in 2D and 3D, in 1570 and all digital formats, Lasting Impressions has a run time of 40 minutes and features opening narration by Sophie Renoir, the great-granddaughter of artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
Artists whose works are featured in the film include Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Pierre-August Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Henri Rousseau, Alfred Sisley, Gustave Caillebotte, David Roberts, Henri Fantin, Jean-Francois Raffaelli, Edouard Manet, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin and Georges Seurat.
Their work is accompanied with music by Debussy and Ravel, as well as French standards performed by Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour and Nana Mouskouri. Tenor extraordinare Adam Fisher performs a moving rendition of Don Mclean’s famous song “Vincent.”
