There is a lot going on in the world today, and so many of us are feeling big emotions as our world encounters unprecedented challenges.
Today is also World Oceans Day, and we at MacGillivray Freeman Films are pausing for a moment to acknowledge the importance of healthy oceans as we re-imagine a better world. At MFF, our love for the sea goes back more than 50 years to when company founder Greg MacGillivray got his start making surfing documentaries. An ardent conservationist, he made it our company’s mission to educate and inspire people about the importance of the world’s oceans to the planet’s well-being. In honor of this special day, we invite you to celebrate by watching some of our educational ocean-themed films. We’d also love to hear how YOU feel inspired to help the world’s oceans.
An immersive, uplifting journey into the mysterious underwater world of one of nature’s most awe-inspiring marine mammals, Humpback Whales is available for streaming on Vimeo on Demand. Use Promo Code WOD2020 to take 20% off your purchase for the week of June 8 in honor of World Oceans Day. Here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at the MFF film crew photographing these majestic animals in Tonga, a country that transformed from being a whaling society to one of conservation where humpbacks now thrive after facing near extinction.
Also available for home viewing are these three films on Amazon Prime Video.
Other Ways to Celebrate
We also encourage you to check out and support the work of our NGO ocean partners, Oceana and Surfrider Foundation. Their work on the ground advocating for ocean conservation and healthy oceans is making real change happen.

Wishing everyone a happy World Oceans Day!
