Keep Connected to Nature While at Home

As we adjust to new routines and our stay-at-home environment, one thing stays the same – the importance of connecting with nature any way we can. Whether from our backyard, a window, or even our TV screens, here are some fun ways we can stay engaged with Mother Nature until we’re able to get back out in the big, beautiful world again.

50th Anniversary of Earth Day 2020

Next week – April 22 – marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Usually this is a chance to experience the wilder places of our planet, but this year we are celebrating and appreciating nature’s value right here at home, and we want to hear from YOU! How are you celebrating nature these days? Have you been climbing a backyard tree or watering your house plants or hanging a bird feeder outside your kitchen window? Send us a photo or short video of how you are celebrating nature these days, and we will include it in a special Earth Day video on our social media channels.

Dive Into Jonathan Bird's "Blue World" Online Series

Filmmaker Jonathan Bird, whose science adventure film Ancient Caves recently launched in giant-screen theaters, is also the producer of the Emmy Award-winning online ocean science series, Jonathan Bird’s Blue World. Produced with funding from the National Science Foundation and with episodes lasting only 5 to 11 minutes, the series takes a fun, light-hearted look at marine science and exploration. Endorsed by the National Science Teachers Association, topics include: Is the ocean really blue? How does a shark’s unique biology keep it at the top of the food chain? How does symbiosis really work?
